Orchid of the day: Bulbophyllum frostii

Bulbophyllum frostii

Bulbophyllum frostii
is a native of the evergreen lowland forest of Vietnam. Their common name is 'Dutch shoe', which is quite obvious even to a novice.
The flower size is about 1 inches or 2.5 cm. We have had this orchid since 2010 and Arne had divided the original orchid three times now. He had given a few of the divisions to some deserving friends who had expressed their  appreciation for these Dutch shoes. Bulbophyllum frostii does emit a special fragrant, which I personally, don't appreciate. Best described as a 'smelling shoe...'.

A) Currently we have thirteen flowers blooming but more buds are coming.

B) A close up of three 'smelly' flowers.

C) Love all the roots spreading out of the pot.

D) Image this orchid sprawling all over the lowland forest floor in Vietnam.

I cannot help but conclude this post with two photos of the original Bulbophyllum frostii in 2014 from my earlier post, July 21, 2014. See below.

Until my next post, as usual, have a great week everyone.

E) Beautiful green moss as ground cover in the pot.

F)  In 2014, there was room to grow and spread. But today, not so much...
