Orchid of the day: Phalaenopsis lindenii

Phalaenopsis lindenii

We have had this orchid since March 2011. Arne is very happy because he has never seen the flowers these big and this many. This native of the island of Luzon in the Philippines, is in the endangered list due to deforestation.

A) August 23, four flowers opened.

B) Ten buds were still undeveloped on August 23rd.

C) Seven days later, about seven flowers were opened.

D) A close up of the flowers.

E) The leaves of this orchid are thick and waxy, and have a beautiful mosaic pattern.

I hope you enjoyed these photos. To conclude, I am including a picture of this orchid with my dog Anthony. This photo was taken in September 2014. This orchid has definitely developed over the last five years.

Until my next post, have a great week everyone!
