Orchid of the day: Schoenorchis fragrans

Schoenorchis fragrans

This orchid is endemic to regions in northeastern India (the state of Assam), Thailand, Burma, China (the state of Yunan ) and Vietnam. We have had this petite specimen since 2014 and it has grown quite a bit, considering it was slightly bigger than the size of a quarter when we got it from a grower in Montana

A) Here is what it looked like in my post from July 1 , 2015 with Anthony's help.

B) August 18th, this year. More than forty flowers and buds were blooming.

C) A little closer now...

D) Arne tied the orchid with fishing line to the cork. It seems to be doing well over the last few years.

E) A better view of the fishing line holding the orchid closely to the cork.

F) The roots are clearly wrapping around the cork and growing well.

G) By August 30th, almost all forty three flowers were blooming.

H) By September 1st, it was still doing well and we still have all the flowers today. A delightful miniature orchid.

Well, I hope these photos were of some interest to you all. Until my next post, please have a great week.
